Hi all with Murray Cod closing almost upon us I thought I’d throw in a short message to remind everyone that you can’t fish for or target Murray Cod between the 1st of September and the 30th of November ,Cod are very aggressive and protective of their nest which makes them an easy target as they will attack anything that gets too close to the nest .Coming into spring and the water temp rising the Yellas should come on the chew. Using small lures and smaller baits to lower your chances of catching a nesting Murray Cod is recommended in the closed season. A big congratulations to Elsie and Pattie Wilson on catching their very first Murray Cod out on the Gunbower Creek near Koondrook with their dad Kyle. Rumour has it that Kyle spent a week in Darwin at a knot tying school to improve his skills in this area . There will be a special prize for the 2 girls landing on their doorstep in the next couple of days. There is also a closed season on Murray Crayfish so you cannot fish for Crays between the 1st of September and 31st of May incl . Cheers Bazz
