Wheels hit the concrete at Barham’s Skate Park with Skate Park League’s Skate Park Competition. On Saturday, February 27, athletes were treated to free workshops to hone their skills. On Sunday 28th, athletes put their skills to the test in a competition format, with every competitor given two 45 second runs on the last day of summer.
Three disciplines contested, the street scooter, BMX and the skateboard. Athletes were able to compete in all three fields in various age groups.
The local talent impressed the small crowd, setting achievable goals with new tricks under the Skate Park League Coaches’ guidance.
The Murray River Council is looking to hold more events with the Youth Engagement Program being set up for the youth to plan activities and events, bringing fun to the community.
