Vehicle theft: At about 11 am on Friday the 5th of September, it is alleged a red Ford ute was stolen from a carpark in Beveridge Street Swan Hill. Police observed the vehicle, which still hadn’t been reported as stolen, being driven along the Murray Valley Highway just south of Swan Hill.  Police attempted to intercept the vehicle for a routine check, at which time it is alleged that the ute attempted to overtake a turning vehicle colliding with the driver’s door. Both vehicles left the roadway, with the occupants of the stolen vehicle fleeing the scene on foot. Several Police units responded that resulted in two 18yr old males being arrested. One of the males was remanded in custody to appear in court today (Monday). The male passenger was charged and bailed on a number of offenses and will appear in the Magistrates Court at a later date. The driver of the second vehicle was assisted from the vehicle by the Swan Hill SES due to damage to the driver’s door and taken to hospital for assessment where she was later cleared by medical staff.
