No need to blow up your inflatable unicorn, the sad announcement has been made that the 2021 Great Aussie Lilo Race on Australia Day has been cancelled. 

The event has been a huge success in previous years bringing visitors to town and raising funds for the Koondrook Barham Football Netball Club.

Club President Greg Lake said with the announcement of the border closure, the event could not go ahead. During the event contestants enter the water in Victoria and exit in New South Wales.

Although the physical event can not take place people are encouraged to share and tag the footy club with their own photos celebrating Australia Day.

Major sponsor of the event Bree Derksen of Trend Skate n Surf said they would still love people to enjoy the day. “If you’re out on the river or floating on a dam, take a snap. We still want everyone to be able to share Australia Day together, border lockdown or not.”
