The David vs Goliath battle of NSW and Victorian irrigators against the Murray-Darling Basin Authority is set to begin in the Supreme Court of NSW on August 11. The case centres on the belief held by irrigators that the MDBA breached its “duty of care” by mismanaging water delivery, specifically overbank transfer through the Barmah-Millewa forest during two periods: October 3, 2017, to January 20, 2018, and August 31, 2018, to January 7, 2019.
