Astronomer and planetary scientist Carl Sagan once declared that there are more stars in space than all the grains of sand on all the beaches on planet earth. A bit hard to believe, you might say! Some say Sagan is correct, others disagree. If you Google this topic, you will see a variance of opinion as the number can only be estimated – but there is no doubt that the number of stars in the universe and the number of grains of sand on planet earth are incomprehensibly large.
